Back to School for Teens

It’s almost time to head back to school, so I wanted to share some of the things I like to use to help me get through the school day. These are my Back to School for Teens must-haves!

The first (and most important) thing is waking up on time. This can be really hard…especially those first few weeks when your body is adjusting back to the school-year schedule. I use my Echo Dot to wake me up. I can set the alarm and turn it off by voice which means I don’t have to move to set off the alarm…this is key ;-).

I like to sleep in as long as possible, which means that I don’t have a ton of time to get ready for school. To maximize my time, I usually shower before bed. My hair is usually dry by the time I wake up so I can style it and put on some makeup quickly. I’ll share my makeup routine in another post soon.

I grab something fast to eat (usually a bagel or toast) and fill up my S’well water bottle with water. There are a lot of different colors/patterns and sizes to choose from. I have a 17 oz S’well that I love because it keeps liquids cold for hours (or hot liquids if you prefer) and fits perfectly into my backpack.

On that note, my favorite backpack is a Kanken. They also come in a lot of different colors and are also available at retailers like Urban Outfitters and Nordstrom. They are pretty expensive (they retail for about $80) but can be found for less on eBay. My favorite color is Super Grey because it matches everything and dirt and stains don’t show as easily. I try to pack it up the night before so I don’t have to waste too much time looking for things in the morning.

Once I get to school, I stop by my locker quick to get rid of the books and things I don’t need until later in the day. If I brought a lunch, I’ll also leave it in here so it doesn’t get smooshed in my bag. My favorite lunch tote is from Thirty-One. It’s a thermal tote so you can put your lunch in with an ice pack and it will stay cold until lunchtime. They offer the bag in a ton of different colors and patterns, but the one I use is Charcoal. If I’m not bringing anything that needs to be refrigerated, I’ll just use a brown paper bag.

I hang a mirror in my locker so I can do a quick check between classes and after lunch. I also like to have a whiteboard in there so I can leave myself notes to remind me to take certain things home, or about tests or appointments. I like this set from Target because it’s cute and includes everything I need.

Your school will probably give you a list of everything else you need to get ready to head back to class, but hopefully my Back to School for Teens must-haves gives you more ideas for things that can make school life a little easier.

Hope you all have a great year ahead!
